Not to say that Portishead's use of this wasn't fucking totally genius, because it really was. In fact, I think 'watered down commercial radio interpretation' refers to A LOT of commercial stuff on the radio and less actually directed towards Portishead. And, perhaps a bit harsh. I was floored by their LP when it came out, like many folks were. But, sometimes I get a bit over zealous when it comes to spotting originals. So, sorry for climbing aboard the high horse and coming off anything snobby of the sort. I assure you I'm genuinely NOT. :)Sound Boutiquehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02575315194917788215noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7905485140099070336.post-76023569035517487522010-05-11T09:57:18.475-07:002010-05-11T09:57:18.475-07:00Don't be snobby now, they gave (give) him cred...Don't be snobby now, they gave (give) him credit and their use is way better than just covering it ala Jet Set Sweden...Hattermadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13202799919439771096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7905485140099070336.post-68890889718519098072010-03-15T07:18:25.876-07:002010-03-15T07:18:25.876-07:00They give him credit on the CD jacket and CD itsel...They give him credit on the CD jacket and CD itself.

I heard this song for the first time today and thought it sounded an awful lot like Sour Times. Isn't that a little unfair? I think they use the samples in their music in a very musical and with great taste.
